Obituary of Wendell Lee Durham

Wendell Lee Durham, 79, husband of the late June E. Durham, passed away on May 20, 2023 in Lexington. Wendell was born in Owsley County, Kentucky on June 28, 1943 to the late John and Addie Durham. In addition to being enlisted in the United States Navy, Wendell went on to be a skilled master painter for most of his life. He loved to craft custom made knives and covered wagons in his free time. He was also known to be a UFO and bigfoot enthusiast, keeping up with the latest sightings and showing off those of his own. He was an avid collector of all things Native American and loved a good western. He was stubborn and loving, outspoken and hilarious. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. 

He is survived by his daughter, Angela Garten; grandchildren, Whitni Hartsell, Zachary Garten, Demi Garten, and Julia Garten; great grandchildren, Lincoln Nelle, Poppi Nelle, Aeris Garten, Amara Garten, and Siryn Kilkenny; sister, Janet Donaldson-Martin; niece, Shawna Donaldson; and son, Stacey Overholster.

In addition to his parents, Wendell was preceded in death by his daughter, Dana Durham.

A funeral service will be held for Wendell on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 2pm at Clark Legacy Center-Brannon Crossing, Nicholasville, KY. Visitation will be held from 12pm until the time of service.

Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Mr. Wendell Durham to Shriners Children's Hospital.
