Obituary of Winifred "Winnie" Zimmerman

Winifred “Winnie” Zimmerman, 81, passed away on April 29, 2023. Wife to the late Jesse Arthur Zimmerman, Jr, Winnie was born May 3, 1941, to George and Dollie Vincent Long in Louisville, Kentucky. Devoted to her husband and children, Winnie spent her early years raising children and taking care of the family home, but always enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, working puzzles, and antiquing then refinishing the treasures she and Jesse found. As the years passed and her family expanded to include grandchildren, then great-grandchildren, she found pure enjoyment in the time she spent with them. There is no love like the love between a grandmother and her grandchildren.  

Winnie is survived by her children, Jennifer Zimmerman of Frankfort, Melanie (Shane) Gammon of Danville, and Daniel (Davona) Zimmerman of Indiana; a sister, Wanda Clark of Louisville; grandchildren, Sloane Gammon, Regan Paige, Nicholas Paige, Taryn Mynear, Emily Hatter, Nathaniel Zimmerman, and Piper Zimmerman; and 3 great grandchildren.  

In addition to her husband, Jesse Arthur Zimmerman, Jr, Winnie was preceded in death by her parents, George and Dollie Vincent Long; a son, Jeffrey Zimmerman; and a sister, Dorris Long.  

Services will be private. Winnie will be laid to rest with her husband, Jesse, at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
