Obituary of Floria Newman Thornton Willhoite

Floria Newman Thornton Willhoite, 88, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. The widow of Harry Thornton and Ben Willhoite, Floria was born February 26, 1935, to the late Stanley and Paulina Reece Newman in Lee County, Kentucky. She was an active member of Swallowfield Baptist Church in Frankfort, Kentucky. 

Floria is survived by her daughters, Carolyn (Mustafa) Mahdi of Frankfort, Shirley (Jerry) Graves of Illinois, and Joann Couch of Frankfort; a sister, Janie Evens of Graefenburg; her grandchildren, Johannon Mapp, Aaron Mapp, Kaamilya Mahdi, Tammy (Greg) Peach, Jennifer Snavley, Roy Thomas Crutchfield, G. Dwight (Wendy) Couch, Gwynne (Danny) Robertson, Bonnie Feeback, Deven Couch, Daryl (Danielle) Couch, and Scott Hall; great grandchildren, Jace Mapp, Taylor (Preston)  Turner, Bailey Hazlett, Amber (Brandon) Barns, Keelie (Larry) Ritcherdson, Ava B Couch, Paul D Harrod, Juston Willson, Jessica West, Chelsea Vance, Hope Feeback, Chloe Couch, Ramey Couch, Daryl, Tylor, Dylan, Jasemine, Savana, and Kaitlyn; and great great grandchildren, Cameron Peach, Hadliegh Grace Cooper, Ameera Barns, Larry Ritcherdson, II, Bexley Harrod, Naomi West, Nellie Baeza, Mia Feeback, Jax Deavers, Charliegh Feeback, Blair Vance, Corrine Vance, and Anastasia Harris.  

In addition to her husbands, Harry Thornton and Ben Willhoite and her parents, Stanley and Paulina Reece Newman, Floria was preceded in death by a sister, Provie Williams; brothers, Edward Newman, Lerman Newman, Robert Newman, and Everett Newman; and a son in law, Gilbert Couch.  

A Funeral Service will be held 1:00p, Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Clark Legacy Center, 3000 Versailles Rd, Frankfort, KY with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Frankfort. Roy Thomas Crutchfield, Baily Hazlett, Paul Harrod, and Bill Wise will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 11:00a until the time of service on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
