Obituary of Virginia Ann Long

LONG, Virginia Ann Bartlett, wife of the late Clifford Long passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023.Virginia was born on October 3, 1936, to James and Harriett Bartlett in Somerset, Kentucky. A member of Crestwood Christian Church, she served in many capacities including as a deacon and elder and was heavily involved in both community and world outreach efforts. She had many talents including gardening, cooking, sewing, and writing. She was especially proud of being a published author of three books and serving as a contributing columnist to the Harrodsburg Herald for seven years. Virginia was a life-long learner who was passionate about literacy, serving as an adult tutor for eight years with Operation Read. She is survived by daughters Jennifer (David) Satterly, Prospect, KY, Pamela (Bill) Gardner, Lexington, KY, Sharyn (Clarence) Meade, Madison, AL, and Lindi (Rick) Campbell, Lexington, KY. Also surviving are foster daughter Georgia (Warren) Freeborg, Beaverton, OR; grandchildren Mark and Matthew Coffey, Michael and Cole Wade, Kristi Newton, Erica Levy, Philip and Nathan Meade, Jennifer Davis, Heather Czaplinski, Ben Hammack, Allie Campbell, and Cassie Hamilton, as well as 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Clifford Long, and daughters Judy Wymer, Indianapolis, IN and Anita Hammack, Maple Valley, WA. A celebration of life service will be held on Sat, January 7, 11:30am at Crestwood Christian Church with a reception immediately following. Rev. Trish Standifur and Rev. Kory Wilcoxson officiating. Visitation at 10am until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Crestwood Christian Church, God’s Pantry or the Arboretum.
