Obituary of Shelby Jean Purvis

Shelby Jean Purvis, age 85, widow of Leslie M. Purvis, Jr. passed away peacefully at Lexington Country Place on 11/30/2022 with her two daughters at her side. Shelby was born and grew up in Corbin, KY, but lived most of her life in Lexington, KY. Shelby is survived by her daughters: Elizabeth Weir and Deborah Owens (Joseph); 3 grandchildren: Chris Van Hook (Heather), April Miller (Brandon), Katie Bailey (David); 7 great grandchildren: Kayla and Michael Van Hook, Morgan Day, Lailee Davis, Breille and Elijah Franklin, Krue Bailey.

Shelby had a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed good food and music. She was an avid reader and worker of daily crossword puzzles. She loved animals and nature. She communicated with friends, family and always kept in touch with former classmates from Corbin High School by letter writing and sending cards. She enjoyed chatting with neighbors from her porch. She loved car rides since she never learned to drive in her life. She treasured her family dearly, especially the grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff of Lexington Country Place for the great care they provided throughout her time as a resident there. A private gathering at Clark Legacy, Brannon Crossing to be held for family only.
