Obituary of Shirley Hockensmith

Shirley Hockensmith, 87, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2022. She was born in Olive Hill, Kentucky on May 9, 1935 to the late Fulton and Irene Withrow May. She worked for the Workforce Development and Education for the State of Kentucky. Shirley was a member and enjoyed attending North Frankfort Baptist Church. She loved square dancing and clogging; playing the piano; and she enjoyed ministering to inmates.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Jo (Harry Girdler) Clark, Frankfort; her son, Scott Leathers, Frankfort; her stepsister, Jo Harper, FL; her grandchildren, Jeremy (Tiffany) Clark, Jim (Brooke) Dockery, and Tyler (Savannah) Leathers; and her great grandchildren, Dalton, Linken, Kaylee, Aiden, Molly, and one on the way.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Steven Leathers.

Graveside Service will be held at 12:00pm on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. David Smith officiating. Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd is in charge of arrangements.
