Obituary of George R. Pennington Sr

George R. Pennington, Sr., 82, husband of Pat Pennington, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022. He was born in Paris, Kentucky on November 12, 1939 to the late Russell Pennington and Ora Stokes Delaney. George served as the Fire Chief for the City of Frankfort and was a Veteran of the US Navy.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Tiger (Cynthia) Pennington, KS, and Susan Pennington (Berry) Popp, Versailles; his sister, Aleda Smallwood, Florence; his grandchildren, Kristi (Fadil) Rexhepi, Lauren (Zack) Combs, T.J. Pennington, and Peyton (Melody) Popp; and his great grandchildren, Blake, Bekim, and Bentley Rexhepi.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Rissie Wagner and Curt Pennington.

Funeral Service will be held at 4:00pm on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church with Rev. Tiger Pennington officiating. Serving as casketbearers will be the City of Frankfort Firefighters. Visitation will be held from 2:00pm until 4:00pm on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bluegrass Care Navigators.
