Obituary of James Elmer Showalter
James Elmer Showalter, August 26, 1930-September 25, 2022
Jimmy was born in Lexington, KY to the late Morford and Florence Jones Showalter. He graduated from Lafayette High School, attended the University of Kentucky and vocational school. He served in the Army and served as a scout master of Troop 21 at Hunter Presbyterian Church for many years. He was employed as a supervisor at KY Utilities for 43 years.
He was preceded in death by his brother William "Bill" Showalter, sister-in-law Emma Creech Showalter and nieces Teresa Buroughs and Susan Bowman.
He is survived by his wife Mary Creech Showalter, sons James II (Kimberly) and Michael (Jill), daughter Marsha Fyffe (Wayne). grandchildren Andrea Bently (Matthew), Lauren Pasquariello (Brian), Evan, Kristen and Jenna Fyffe, Ethan, Eric, Jacob and Daniel Showalter, and great grandchildren Leon Bently and Iris Pasquariello.
Visitation will be 4-6pm, Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing with a service to follow at 6pm. Burial will be Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 11am at Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.
The family requests donations be made to Alzheimers Research in lieu of flowers.
