Obituary of Charles "BoBo" Dones

Charles “BoBo” Dones, 87, widower of Lucy Bradshaw Dones, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022. He was born in Illinois and raised in Louisville, KY to the late Roy and Grace Shain Dones on February 16, 1935. Bo was a veteran of the United States Army and a Union Iron Worker and a member of Local 70 for 67 years. He worked on several steel construction projects across Kentucky and the United States, including one of the original I-75 Clays Ferry Bridges which was constructed in the 1960s. He loved to fish, hunt, play golf, and play pool, He also cooked the most amazing BBQ Ribs, and man could he raise some tomatoes.  But most importantly he loved his family and he loved telling his stories which some would say could have been a tad bit exaggerated.  He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Mistie (Robert) English, Nicholasville; 2 Grandsons, Bobby English, and Kelly Merrell; great-granddaughter, Claudia (Michael) Carlton; 2 great great grandchildren, several neices and nephews, plus 2  bonus children, Juanita and George Dailey, lifelong best friend, Bob Crabb, and his beloved granddogEskamo. Eska was the only dog in the world that loved daddy and he loved her just as much.   In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his son, William Merrell; sister, Nancy Goff; and brothers, LeRoy Dones and Robert Keith Dones.

Additional survivors include the residents and all the staff at Bridgepoint.  Bo was the Mayor at Bridgepoint and he loved each and every person up there.  Our family can't say Thank you enough to everyone that has taken care of him over the past 6 years.  Always remember "Don't let anyone sit at his table".

Daddy also loved hats so feel free to wear your favorite hat!
