Obituary of James "Jim" Clinton Furness Jr

James “Jim” Clinton Furness, Jr., 74, husband of Lynn Furness, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022. He was born in St Louis, MO on January 5, 1948, to the late James Clinton and Rosemary Bucholz Furness. He was the president of Furness Newburge, Inc., providing consulting and equipment to the foundry industry. Jim was a veteran of the US Navy receiving a Vietnam Service Medal, among others. Jim loved to travel, cook and be with friends and family. He enjoyed reading and learning history, science, and chemistry. Jim was very supportive of Lynn’s affiliation with Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America, and participated often in events as an Associate of Hadassah.

In addition to his wife of 30 years, he is survived by his daughters, Geri Newburge (Eric Goldberg), Pennsylvania, and Jennifer Furness, Oregon; his sons, Scott (Susan) Newburge, New York, and Clinton (Jennifer Campbell) Furness, Kansas; his sister, Gloria Jean Anderson, Missouri; his brother, John (Kathleen) Furness, Florida; and his grandchildren, Justin Furness, Isabella Furness, Jay Goldberg, Sam Newburge, Layah Newburge, and Miriam Newburge.

A celebration of life will be held on August 15 at the Clark Legacy Center, 3000 Versailles RD, Frankfort, KY 40601 with visitation from 11 to 1 with services and sharing starting at 1 and full military honors at 2. Services will be livestreamed via Clark Legacy Center Facebook Page starting at 1:00pm.
