Jim Furness has always been a breath of fresh air, and a true friend. We loved to laugh together. We have had so much fun together, innovating new, novel, and unexpected processes into the foundry industry. These really worked, and saved foundries millions of dollars, while dramatically diminishing pollution and wasted materials. I remember after our first long 7-hour conversation, he said, "Fred, you made my brain hurt." He fondly recalled foundry personnel's perception that he got his ideas from the "Mother Ship". He was proud that his Advanced Oxidation system worked so well, that a foundry man was interrogated by his wife when the man came home from work. The wife asked, "where were you today, I know you weren't at work because your clothes do not smell like foundry smoke." The foundry man said, "No, honey, I did go to work today, but honest, my clothes do not smell because Jim Furness installed this crazy Advanced Oxidation system, which eliminated the smoke." On a more serious note, I implored of him one time, "Jim, before you go to heaven, will you promise me that you will accept God into your life?" Jim said "Yes, Fred, I will."

Uncle Jim was a special man. I only got to be with him and Aunt Lynn a few times but enjoyed every minute of it. Uncle Jim always had a story or joke to tell, he was a jolly person who we all loved very much. He will be greatly missed. RIP until we meet again. Love Loleta

Jim was a wonderful foundry friend to my husband Tom and our son Rodney worked for his company several years ago. He cooked us some delicious seafood dinners at our Lake Redstone home. Jim will be greatly missed and our sincerest sympathy to you Lynn. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers on his special day.
