Obituary of Elwanda Murphy

Elwanda Murphy, 94, widow of Ralph Murphy, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022. She was born in Springfield, Kentucky on October 4, 1927 to the late Charlie Grider and Nannie Robinson Murphy. Elwanda was a caser at Ancient Age Distillery and was a member of Broadway Baptist Church, Lexington. She enjoyed helping others and always had a smile on her face. Elwanda loved life, people, and her family, most of all, she loved Jesus.

She is survived by her stepdaughters, Nicole (Nathan) Cheak, Lawrenceburg, and Tiffany (Daniel) Nipp, Danville; her son, Scott (Lisa) Murphy, Frankfort; her stepson, Justin (JoAnn) Coomer, Lexington; and her step-grandchildren, Hayden, Caleb, Harper, Avelyn, Gabriel, and Brantley.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her step grandchild, Taylor; and by her siblings.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd with her son, Scott Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Serving as casketbearers will be James Grider, Paul Grider, Bobby Grider, Billy Grider, Donnie Carpenter, and Robbie Hutcherson. Visitation will be held from 9:00am until the time of service on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
