Obituary of Helen Stigers Wingate
Helen Stigers Wingate, 93, widow of Ike Wingate, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022. A native of Franklin County, she was born on February 24, 1929 to the late Ira Julian Stigers and Della Stigers Dawson. Helen was a secretary with the Kentucky Unemployment Insurance Department. She was a member of Graefenburg Baptist Church and the Franklin County Senior Citizens Center. Helen was a former teacher at Happy Times Kindergarten. She loved watching UK basketball, and enjoyed quilting, gardening, sewing, walking, working puzzles, and playing cards. Helen was always volunteering at church and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Vickie (Tom) Eckler, and Jane Ann (Larry) Botzman; her son, Mark (Lisa) Wingate; her grandchildren, Leigh Ann (Ben) Luttrell, Joshua (Katie) McFarland, Seth (Shelly) Eckler, Logan (Denitzza) Botzman, Brandon Botzman, Elizabeth Wingate, Emily Wingate, and Sarah Wingate; 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lula Stigers, Sarah Tincher, Peggy Cobb, Gladys Powers, Hazel Lewis, Jean Fore, and Kathleen Conway; and her brother, John Stigers.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, May 20, 2022 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd with Pastor Jay Padgett and Pastor Philip Meade officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Serving as casketbearers will be Helen’s grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Graefenburg Baptist Church, 11288 Frankfort Rd, Waddy, KY 40076.
