Obituary of Regina Lynn Goodman Sutherland

Regina Lynn Goodman Sutherland, wife of Christopher (Chris) Sutherland, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on February 19, 1969, to Judy Lowrance Goodman and the late Rual Goodman. She grew up in Frankfort, KY graduating from Franklin County High School in 1987 where she was a member of the school’s girls' basketball, cross country, and track & field teams. Regina continued her education by attending Eastern Kentucky University and Kentucky State University where she completed and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting. She worked for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife (where she retired in 2013). She returned to employment with the Kentucky State Government when she accepted a position with the Kentucky Retirement System and continued to work from home until her illness made it impossible to work. She was a Wilderness Road Girl Scout troop leader for several years and volunteered at the National Archery School Program (NASP) tournaments at both state and national levels. Regina’s personality was one that she always wanted to help others, which showed in the various positions she held. Regina enjoyed traveling, from Gatlinburg, TN weekend trips to going on week-long cruises. She was always planning the next adventure! 

Regina is, also, survived by a daughter, Rebecca (Becca) Sutherland, Chattanooga, TN; her constant companion fur buddy, Sophie; sister, Leitha Goodman Harris (Jesse, Jordan, Mason), Frankfort, KY; step-daughter, Kandis Sutherland, Frankfort, KY; and step-son, Morgan Sutherland (Kara, Easton, Emma), Frankfort, KY. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Louis and Helen Lowrance, Frankfort, KY and Wilbur and Kathleen Goodman, Elizabethtown, KY. She is a member of Crestwood Baptist Church, Frankfort, KY. She and Chris attended the Sunday morning Stillwaters Campground ministry and their Friday night Prayer Meeting where she provided the selection of hymns each week.  

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00p until 4:00p, Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Stillwaters Campground, 249 Strohmeir Road, Frankfort, KY 40601.
