Obituary of Shirley Sue Burns

Shirley Sue Burns, 86, wife of Kenneth Burns, passed away Monday, March 28, 2022. She was born in Jenkins, Kentucky to the late James E. and Gretchen Catherine Craft Alley on September 7, 1935. Mrs. Burns was a former member of Gardenside Christian Church and an active member of Journey Church. She loved reading, having lunch with her friends and gardening. Throughout her life she held many part time positions such as longtime Avon sales rep, elementary school lunch lady, WJMM Radio Station receptionist and employee at the University of Kentucky Bookstore. Her most favorite title was homemaker.  

In addition to her husband of 68 years, she will be lovingly remembered by her children, Tani (Charles) Davis, Versailles, Jim (Kim) Burns, Lexington, and Susan (Will) McGinnis, Harrodsburg; grandchildren, Meredith Burns, Aaron Burns, Isaac Courtney, Megan Davis, Erin Davis, Caitlin Davis and Ian McGinnis; and her great grandchild, Ryan Poole.  

Funeral Service will be 1:00 PM Friday, April 1, 2022 at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill. Officiating the service will be Rev. Randy Nation and Rev. Dave Menser. Burial will follow in Rose Crest Cemetery. Serving as casketbearers will be Jim Burns, Charles Davis, Aaron Burns, Will McGinnis, Isaac Courtney, and Ian McGinnis. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
