Danny Collett

Obituary of Danny Joe Collett

Our loving father, grandfather, and brother, who was full of life and joy, Danny Joe Collett, left this earth on Wednesday, March 9, 2022. Dan’s artistic expression and beautiful soul touched so many people and many corners in this life. Gentle and humble as he was, and with his warm smile and infectious laugh, he never made an enemy. Dan made sure that his family and friends knew they were loved. Through his thoughtful text messages, phone calls, pictures, or just being present, he relished in his happiness and took great efforts to ensure others could experience the many blessings that surrounded him. He was a proud man, proud of his accomplishments and those of his children and grandchildren.

A graduate of Tates Creek High School and Lexington Community College, Dan followed his passion for creative arts. A successful business owner of Dan Collett Painting, Dan blessed many people with beautiful hand-painted murals. Dan was also a talented dancer, with numerous performances in the Lexington Ballet Nutcracker; his artistic ability flowed beyond his painting gifts. An avid hiker, Dan explored the outdoors and enjoyed the magnificent beauty and spirit captured in nature. He spent his free time enjoying his family and cheering on his grandchildren during all of their sporting events. A member of the Gratz Park (Fresh Air) Bluegrass Intergroup AA with 35 plus years of sobriety, Dan was committed to living every day like it was his last.

He passes in this life to greener pastures and still waters, only to be greeted by his father and mother, the late Joe Lawrence Collett and Helen Tankersly Collett. He leaves behind life lessons, cherished memories, and love to his brother and sister, Richard Collett and Carol Ann Hooks, his three sons, Shawn (DeShana) Collett, Jeremy Collett, and Tristan Wilson, and his four grandchildren, DeStinie Graves, Zander, Braeden, and Jace Collett. He would call many a friend and they were each special to him. Dan would not want sadness during our time of grief; he would wish and hope that each of you reflects on the moments in your life that bring you great joy and happiness.

We will continue to celebrate the life of Danny Joe Collett at Clark Legacy Center, 601 E. Brannon Road, Nicholasville, KY.  Visitation will take place on March 17, from 4-6 pm, followed by the service at 6:00 pm.

Dan photographed and observed flowers in their most natural state, and he would want to preserve them in that manner. He would also want the creative arts to live on most vibrantly. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in Honor of Dan Collett to the Bluegrass Intergroup AA of Lexington, In honor of Dan Collett, 253 Market Street Lexington, KY 40517 or donations to the Lexington Ballet Company Annual Fund @ https://pages.elevate.salesforce.org/lexingtonballet/annual-fund
