Obituary of Fredrick S. Pope

Lexington - Fredrick S. Pope of Lexington passed away January 29, 2022, at the age of 96. He was born January 2, 1926, in Dekalb County , Alabama, came to Lexington after WWII where he met his wife and settled to raise his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira S. Pope and Myrtis McKleroy Pope of Anniston, Alabama, and his wife of 57 years, Carrie L. Pope. He is survived by his children, Edward G. Pope ( Lexington); Frederick L. Pope (Susan) (Nicholasville); Elizabeth A. Irvin ( Steve) ( Lexington); and Charles R. Pope (Lexington). He is also survived by his grandchildren Chase T. Blair (Alice ) (Brooklyn NY); Shelby R. Blair (Alfred Baker); (Lexington); Ethan G. Pope (Lexington); and Erin M. Sharpton (Chris) (Asheville, NC); and great grandchild Ava and Leo.

Fred retired from Pieratt's, where he worked for 37 years and was often honored as “salesman of the month.” He was an avid golfer, a WWII navy veteran, and a member of the Bluegrass sportsmen‘s league. The family wants to thank Lexington Senior Citizens Center, Meals on Wheels, and Senior Helpers for all of their assistance.

Funeral services will Wednesday February 2, 2022 at 12:30pm officiated by Rev. Carl Wagner. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will take place prior to the service beginning at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Lexington Humane Society and Alzheimer's Association. www.clarklegacycenter.com
