Obituary of Sondra Kay Blackwell Battaglia

Sondra Kay Blackwell Battaglia, 73, passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021.  The widow of Anthony “Tony” Battaglia, Sondra was born in Kansas City, Missouri on August 25, 1948 to the late Marvin and Ernest “Ernie” Tucker Blackwell.  She was not only a homemaker but was involved in her husband’s thoroughbred training operation here in Central Kentucky.  She also worked for over 16 years at the Kentucky Horse Park Gift Shop.  Sondra loved spending time with her family more than anything.  Her favorite hobbies included shopping and watching her favorite tv shows.  She was also a devoted UK Basketball fan.

She is survived by her children, Toni (Phil) Counti of Missouri, Sam (Tammy) Battaglia of Georgetown and Joann (Tom) Sullivan of Georgetown; her grandchildren, Ginnifer Counti, Tiffany Counti, Samantha (Dustin) Reed, Caitlin Battaglia, and Gabby Battaglia; as well as her great grandchildren, Gia, Gracie, Wesley, Aspen, Ember, and Oakley. 

Services will be held privately in Missouri.
