Obituary of Dorothy L. Swanagan

Dorothy L. Swanagan, 86, widow of Herman Swanagan, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2021. She was born in Madison County, Kentucky on September 16, 1935, to the late Doyle Anderson and Dorothy Mize Riddell. Ms. Swanagan retired from the Department of Libraries and Archives Public Records with the State. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Hope Selby, Versailles, Tina (Hugh) Gilbert, Versailles and Mary Ann (Shannon Larvick) Carpenter, Louisville; sister-in-law, Ramona Wilson, Shelbyville; grandchildren, Naomi Ruth Gilbert, Moses, Noah and Kelly Carpenter; great grandchild, Oliver Carpenter; Stepdaughters; Beth (Doug) Harris, Canada, Melissa (Don) Miller, Indiana, Gena (Steve) Frazer, Indiana, Susanna (Dane Bjerklie) Swanagan, Michigan. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Herbert Carpenter, Jr; sister, Mary Ruth Updike; and brothers, Doyle Riddell, Jr and Joe Riddell. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
