Obituary of Gary Terry

Gary Thomas Terry, 62, husband of Cathy T. Terry, passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021 surrounded by his beloved family. Gary was born in Danville, Kentucky on February 9th, 1959 to the late Mary (Gail) Duggins and Gary R. (Jeannette) Terry. Gary filled many roles in his life, and was friend and mentor to many, but his favorite role in life was Dad and Papa. He always enjoyed his time with friends at Keeneland, playing golf and pouring himself into his work. He spent many years on Lake Cumberland with his family and friends sharing his love for life, boating and fishing with kids. Gary coached youth soccer for many years and made a lasting impact on many young soccer players, while being named Ky Recreational Coach of the Year. He was also an enthusiastic supporter of the Woodford County Girls Soccer team. In addition to his wife of 36 years and parents, he is survived by his daughters, Erin (James) Schreiner, Versailles, Caitlin (Joe) Rickert, Lexington and Kenzie Terry, Versailles; his grandchildren, Tucker James Schreiner, Grayson Thomas Schreiner, and Connelly Rickert; and his sisters, Lisa (Greg) Brown, TX, Kathryn (Kirk) Leigh, Danville, and Jennifer Terry, Danville. Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM Friday, April 9, 2021 at Vineyard Community Church in Lexington with Kevin Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Versailles Cemetery. Serving as casket bearers will be David Gould, Chad Egbert, James Schreiner, Joe Rickert, Gary Larimore, Greg Brown and Willie Tupts. Honorary casket bearers will be Ray Price, Bobby Gould, Jack Whitaker, Bob Shuey, Marty Coomer, and his many friends of the American Legion Post 67. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the MD Anderson Cancer Center Honor Loved Ones.
