May Bolte

Obituary of May Carolyn Bolte

May Carolyn Davis Bolte was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She joined her beloved Bernie in heaven when she slipped from this world peacefully on April 3, 2021, five days past her 93rd birthday.

May was born on March 29, 1928 in Covington, Kentucky to Dorothy (nee Friel) and Jesse F. Davis. She was the oldest of 5 siblings, along with Jerry, Duane, Billy and Denny, who all preceded May in death.   While working as a buyer for The Fair store, she met her “sweet” Bernard Bolte who she married on August 27, 1949 and moved to Frankfort.  Their children, Bob and JoAnn soon arrived, with Jim following after a 9-year gap.  They spent 46 years together until Bernie’s death in 1995.

May had a strong faith and commitment to her family, caring for Bernie, her Mother and sister during extended illnesses. She was a regular volunteer worker at St. Vincent dePaul and the Red Cross. She loved attending services at Good Shepherd Church, tending to her house and yard, playing bridge and an occasional trip to “the boat.”

She is survived by her children, Robert (Susie) Bolte of Salt Lake City, UT, JoAnn (Gary) Reynolds of Frankfort, KY and Jim (Jean) Bolte of West Chester, OH; grandchildren Ben Bolte, Lauren Bolte, Eric (Melanie) Reynolds, Jamie Reynolds, Nat (Kelli) Reynolds, Katie Maguire (Andreas Petersen), Patrick Maguire (Kelsey Pudlock), Leigh Maguire (Justin Price), Andrew Maguire, Brian Bolte and Kristin (Kevin) Baxter; great-grandchildren Bethany, Sarah, Kathryn, Brendan, Lauren, Sophi and Stella Reynolds.

The family would like to send special thanks to her healthcare providers, Rhonda George and Jennifer Tedesco, as well as the Hospice team at Bluegrass Care Navigators.

Visitation is scheduled April 6, 2021 from 11am - 1pm, followed by a funeral service at 1pm at the Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd., Frankfort.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to Bluegrass Care Navigators or St. Jude Research Hospital.
