Obituary of Dorothy L Demmers

Dorothy was married to William Demmers JR of Carlsbad, CA who passed away in December of 2020. Dorthy is survived by her son Eric W Demmers and two step children Michael Demmers, of Portland, Ore., and Sharon Dunckle, of Anchorage, Ala.; and three grandchildren, Michael Dunckle, of Washington., Yasmeen Demmers of Cincinnati, OH, and Erica Demmers, of Louisville, KY. Dorothy is also survived by her faithful companion Jolie.

Dorothy Louise Gordon was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 7, 1931 and completed her masters degree at University of Michigan on a full scholarship. She then went on to work for the Veterans Administration as a research pharmacist.

Dorothy has lived in Carlsbad, CA for the last 30 years and loved volunteering, gardening, golfing and talking to the neighbors.

Dorothy Demmers was proud of the volunteer work she and her husband Bill have provided the NAMM Foundation’s Museum of Making Music. For over a decade she has given of her time and talents to provide tours of the museum to all ages of visitors, help run the museum store, and create and manage the historic files of the volunteer program as well as the museum events since its opening in March 2000.

Dorothy will be missed. A memorial service for her and Bill will be held at a later date.
