Obituary of Clayton Lainhart

Clayton Lainhart, 77, of Lexington, KY passed away September 11, 2020 at Central Baptist Hospital. He was born July 5, 1943 in Sand Springs, KY to the late Robert and Maffery Jane Rose Lainhart and was additionally preceded in death by 3 brothers, Robert Junior, H.C, and Paul Lainhart, and 1 sister, Bernice Issacs. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dianne. Together they have five children, Lisa (Brandon) Croghan, Marcie (Doug Farris) Lainhart, Bryan (Nichole) Lainhart, Amy Jo (Eddie) Preston, and Renee Lainhart and four grandchildren, Chase Lainhart, Cullen Croghan, Lauren Croghan, and Jack Lainhart. Clayton is also survived by two brothers, Clifford and Andrew Lainhart of Versailles and Richmond, KY, and one sister, Pauline Lainhart of Roanoke, VA, along with a multitude of nephews, nieces, and cousins. Clayton graduated from Lafayette High School in 1963 and attended two years at the University of Kentucky following serving within the military. He served three years with the US Army with his last assignment as a Specialist with the 91st Engineer Battalion. During his time of service, he served a tour of duty in Korea, Japan, and Hawaii before being honorably discharged. Clayton later owned and operated his own trucking and excavating business for 47 years, Lainhart Trucking and Paving, and also worked with several tobacco markets within Kentucky. Visitation will be Saturday, September 19, 2020 from 2pm-6pm at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing. A graveside service will be privately held at a later date with immediate family at Camp Nelson. National Cemetery.
